T0 elucidate the frequency of optic nerve involve-ment in sarcoid uveitis, we conducted visual field examination in 68 patients with Goldmann perime-ter. In the present series, sarcodi uveitis with sys-temic sarcoidosis was present in 40 cases, ocular sarcoid, or sarcoid uveitis without systemic sar-coidosis in 20, and systemic sarcoidosis without uveitis in 8. There was no case with raised intraocular pressure.

Visual field changes were detected in 30 out of 60patients with sarcoid uveitis. There was no differ-ence in the incidence of abnormal visual field between 40 patients with sarcoid uveitis and sys-temic sarcoidosis and 20 patients with ocular sar-coidosis. Visual field changes were absent in 8 patients without uveitis. Depression in the upper nasal sector and paracentral scotoma were common forms of detected visual field abnormalities. These findings indicate that optic nerve sar-coidosis may be present in about one half of cases with sarcoid uveitis.
