  • Look Inside

A 27-year-old female felt acute pain in her right eye while SCUBA diving to the depth of 15 meters. After surfacing, she developed epistaxis, vomiting, tinnitus and hearing loss. Diplopia developed few hours later. When seen by us the following day, shepresented with swelling in the right eyelid and restriction of upper movement of the right eye. Plain and tomographic X-ray examination showed shadows in the right ethmoidal sinus suggestive of hemorrhage. The clinical symptoms disappeared 3 weeks later. Acute rise in environmental pressure during deep sea diving seemed to have induced barotrauma in the oaranasal sinus in this patipnt.
