  • Look Inside

We reviewed the incidence and drug sensitivity of microorganisms in 2,472 patients in our department over a 10-year period, 1980-89. A total of 3,648 strains were isolated. Gram-positive cocci were the most frequent at 55.4%, followed by Gram-negative rods at 18.1%. Staphylococcus epidermidis comprised 61.8% of Gram-positive cocci. Among Gram-nega-tive rods, nonfermentative Gram-negative rods were most frequent at 57.6%. S. epidermidis and S. aureus were generally sensitive to AMK, MINO and OFLX and were resistant to PCG, ABPC, EM and CLDM. Nonfermentative Gram-negative rods were generally sensitive to IPM, MINO and OFLX and were resistant to ABPC, CEZ and AMK. H. influenzae was sensitive to IPM, AMK, MINO and OFLX.
