Abstract Purpose:To report a case of ocular toxocariasis who had visceral toxocariasis five years before.

Case:A 46-year-old female became aware of blurring the right eye 20 days before. She was then treated under the diagnosis of uveitis. She visited us as there was no improvement. She had suffered from hepatic visceral larva migrans due to Toxocara spp. five years before.

Findings and Clinical Course:Corrected visual acuity was 0.4 right and 1.2 left. The right eye showed inflammatory cells in the anterior chamber and reticulated visual opacity. Ten days later, a white protuberant lesion appeared in the temporal periphery in the right retina. She was diagnosed with ocular toxocriasis considering the history and present findings. Vitrectomy was performed after progression of vitreous opacity and appearance of retinal detachment. The vitreous specimen was positive for anti-toxocara antibody and toxocara DNA. The right eye received additional two sessions of vitrectomy for proliferative lesions. The patient is now doing well with visual acuity of 0.4.

Conclusion:This case illustrates that ocular toxocariasis may develop years after visceral toxocariasis.
