Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of protracted ocular toxocariasis that responded to vitreous surgery. Case:A 29-year-old female presented with blurring in the left eye since 12 days before. She had been keeping a cat for 2 years. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 1.5 right and 1.2 left. The left eye showed vireous opacity and white mass in the upper temporal periphery. She was treated by topical and peroral corticosteroid. Ocular inflammation exacerbated 6 years later associated with complicated cataract. She was found positive for toxocara antibody in the serum. The inflammation subsided after vitrectomy and photocoagulation. Conclusion:This case illustrates that vitrectomy and photocoagulation may be effective for protracted ocular toxocariasis.
