要約　目的：佐賀大学における急性網膜壊死（ARN）の臨床的特徴の報告。

対象と方法：1998〜2013年に当科を受診しARNと診断した14眼12例を検討した。

結果：片眼10例，両眼2例で，性差は男性7例女性5例であった。年齢は13〜85歳で平均50.4歳であった。病因は単純ヘルペスウイルス2眼，水痘・帯状疱疹ウイルスが12眼であった。薬物療法のみで治療したのは4眼で，手術加療を必要とした症例は10眼であった。平均手術回数は2.3回であった。全症例において，最終視力は0.1以下が8眼，1.0以上が4眼であった。

結論：当院におけるARNは水痘・帯状疱疹ウイルスが多く，網膜剝離をきたす症例が高頻度で，手術加療を行っても予後不良なことが多い。

Abstract　Purpose：To present a review of cases of acute retinal necrosis（ARN）at Saga University Hospsital.

Cases：This retrospective study was made on 12 patients who were diagnosed with ARN by us during the past 16 years.

Findings：ARN was unilateral in 10 cases and bilateral in 2. The series comprised 7 males and 5 females. The age ranged from 13 to 85 years, average 50 years. ARN was due to herpes simplex virus（HSV）in 2 eyes and varicella zoster virus（VZV）in 12. Four eyes were treated by medication alone and 10 eyes needed additional surgery in 2.3 sessions as average. Final visual acuity was 1.0 or better in 4 eyes and 0.1 or worse in 8 eyes.

Conclusion：VZV was the major cause of ARN in the present series. Retinal detachment was a frequent clinical feature. Visual outcome was often poor even after surgery.
