Abstract Purpose:To report a case who developed optic disc pit maculopathy following cataract surgery.

Case:A 67-year-old woman presented with impaired vision in the left eye. She had been diagnosed with optic disc pit before. Corrected visual acuity was 1.2 in the right eye and 0.9 in the left. The left eye showed nuclear and cortical cataract corresponding to grade 2 after Emery-Little. The left eye received uneventful cataract surgery. Eleven days after surgery, her left visual acuity decreased to 0.7. The left fundus showed optic disc pit with macular detachment, retinoschisis and posterior vitreous detachment. The maculopathy progressed for another 3 months and started to improve thereafter. The macular findings normalized with improved visual acuity one year after surgery.

Conclusion:This case illustrates that asymptomatic optic disc pit may develop maculopathy following cataract surgery.
