Abstract Purpose: To report the safety and ocular hypotensive effect of topical treatment with additional ripasudil in eyes with exfoliation glaucoma.

Cases and Method: This retrospective study was made on 17 eyes of 17 patients with exfoliation glaucoma. All the cases showed intraocular pressure(IOP)of 21 mmHg or over after treatment with multiple topical medications. IOP was evaluated after 1 to 2 months, and 3 to 4 months of additional treatment. Another series of 48 eyes of 48 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)served as control.

Results: IOP decreased significantly in both groups. There was no difference in the rate or amount of IOP reduction, or in the rate of drop-out between the two groups.

Conclusion: Additional topical treatment with ripasudil was safe and effective for exfoliation glaucoma as well as POAG.
