Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of corneal perforation with retained metallic foreigh body in the chamber angle. Case:A 31-year-old male presented with corneal injury by a flying piece of metal while engaged in welding. When seen 5 hours after the injury, the left eye showed a wound in the corneal apex. Corrected visual acuity was 1.2 right and 0.2 left. The left eye showed slight defect in the anterior lens capsule in the pupillary area. Gonioscopy showed a piece of metal retained in the lower chamber angle. Surgery was performed the next morning by removal of foreigh body with forceps and by phacoemulsification-aspiration. The outcome was uneventful resulting in visual acuity of 1.2 one week later. Conclusion:This case illustrates that a metallic foreign body may be retained in the chamber angle after perforating the cornea. Outcome of prompt diagnosis and early surgery was favorable.
