  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 61-year-old male presented with bilateralabducens nerve palsy of presumably 2 years' dura-tion. Cervical angiography showed bilateralintracavernous aneurysm of both internal carotidarteries, probably compressing the cavernous sinusalong its porterior lateral portion. Abducens nervepalsy seemed to have resulted as an isolated eventas the nerve crosses the internal carotid arteryalong the posterior portion of the cavernous sinus.

A 73-year-old male manifested left abducensnerve palsy, trigeminal neuralgia in the thirddivision and ipsilateral Horner's syndrome. Radiog-raphy showed inflammatory lesions in the sphenoidsinus and in the left cavernous sinus. The inflamma-tion seemed to have spread from the sphenoid sinusto the posterior portion of the cavernous sinus, implicating the abducens nerve as well asoculosympathetic fibers which briefly join the ab-ducens nerve there.
