Retinal detachment surgery with intraoperative fluorochemical liquid

　液体フルオロカーボンの一種，perfluoro-tributylamine （FC−43，C₁₂F₂₇N）を重症網膜剥離にたいする硝子体手術のさいの網膜固定を目的として11例12眼に使用した。周辺部裂孔性網膜剥離では，FC−43を注入することにより網膜は後極部より押し拡げられるように復位してゆき，網膜下液は周辺部の既存裂孔より自然に排液された。下方が浅く剥離した無裂孔性網膜剥離では　FC−43を注入した状態でバックル上に眼内光疑固を加えて復位せしめた。またFC−43を注入した状態で，黄斑円孔性網膜剥離における黄斑円孔の眼内光疑固による閉鎖が可能であった。FC−43は12眼中10眼では術中に，2眼では術後1〜2週間で除去した。硝子体手術の補助手段としてFC−43の有用性を確認できた。

We treated 12 cases of retinal detachment using fluorochemical liquid, perfluorotributylamine (FC -43), as adjunct to vitreous surgery. Injection of the liquid through a tapered needle induced instant attachment of posterior retina while creating no intentional retinal hole. A case with localized infe-rior detachment following liquid silicone tamponade was successfully treated with the liquid and endophotocoagulation. Another case of retinal detachment with macular break was successfully photocoagulated while the retina was temporarily attached by intraoperative tamponade with the liquid.

The liquid was removed at the end of surgery in 10 cases and within 2 weeks after surgery in 2 cases. No adverse effect was observed throughout the study. We conclude that FC-43 is of value as an adjunct during vitreous surgery for retinal detach-ment.
