The features of senile retinal detachment: (2) A Type of detachment

　65歳以上の高齢者網膜剥離543例552眼について次のような特徴を明らかにした．（1）胞状剥離は全体の74％，黄斑裂孔以外の症例の77％に認めた．（2）黄斑部に網膜剥離が及んでいたのは無水晶体眼では82％に対して有水晶体眼では73％であった．（3）3象限以上の広範囲剥離は51％に認め，高年齢になるほど広範囲網膜剥離の頻度が増加した．（4）他眼には裂孔が7％，網膜剥離が7％，失明が4％に認められた．

The features of 552 eyes older than 65 years of age with retinal detachment were studied retrospec-tively. Bullous detachment was found in 74% and total detachment was found in 17% in the series. Detached macula was found in 82% of aphakic eyes and 73% of phakic eyes. Retinal break (7%), retinal detachment (7%) and blindness (4%) was noted in the fellow eyes.
