Axial length of eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

　裂孔原性網膜剥離眼215例247眼について眼軸長を計測し年齢，性別，眼底所見との関連を検討した。年齢構成は全体として50歳代にピークのある一峰性分布であった。弁状裂孔は高齢者，格子状変性中円孔は若年者に多くみられた。有意に眼軸長が長かった因子としては（1）若年者（50歳未満）（2）男性（3）格子状変性を伴う網膜裂孔があった。扁平剥離は胞状剥離よりわずかに眼軸長が長いが有意差はなかった。

We evaluated 247 eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment concerning the axial length and clinical features. Age distribution of patients showed a peak between 50 and 69 years. Horseshoeretinal tears were common among aged patients. Atrophic hole associated with lattice degeneration was usual among younger patients. The axial length was significantly elongated in retinal detach-ment in younger subjects, males and with retinal breaks associated with lattice degeneration. The shape of retinal detachment, either flat or bullous, was independent of the axial length.
