A 65-year-old male manifested subretinal neovas-cularization in the macula in his left eye. The affected eye was myopic at about -10 diopters, had heveloped rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and were operated twice 14 months before with partial success.
This case illustrates that eyes with high myopia in elderly subjects ought to be watched closely after retinal detachment surgery for the possible occurrence of submacular neovascularization.
