17歳女性,43歳女性の右眼黄斑部に大型の渦静脈と考えられる脈絡膜静脈を認めた.それは,渦静脈分枝部,渦静脈部,強膜入口部等の渦静脈各部の特徴をもった形態を示していた.赤道部の渦静脈は,健眼に比べて小型でかつ少数であった.また,患眼に近視が強く視力障害を認めた.このことから,黄斑部の渦静脈の存在が近視の発生に関与している可能性があると考えた.
A large vortex vein system was detected in the macula in the right eye each of two myopic females. It closely simulated the typical vortex veins in its configuration, the number and type of tributaries and the mode of exit through the sclera. In both cases, the vortex vein systems in the equator in the affected eyes smaller and less numerous than tho se in the fellow eyes. The affected eyes were myopic: -14D in the affected versus -6.5D in the fellow eye in the first case and -7D versus emmetropia in the second. The findings suggested that the presence of vortex vein system in the macula was etiologically involved in the genesis of myopia.
