A consecutive series of 63 patients with thalamic hemorrhage were evaluted as to the ophthalmologi-cal features. The cases were classified into 5 groups as to the extent of the hemorrhage : 1) localized thalamic hemorrhage, 2) thalamic hemorrhage with lateral extension, 3) those with downward extension, 4) those with upward extension and 5) massive thalamic hemorrhage.

In cases with localized thalamic hemorrhage, mio-sis was the most frequent ophthalmological feature. The prognosis of miosis was generally good.
