  • Look Inside

We followed up a 17-year-old girl with Batten's disease for 40 months until she died at the age of 17 years. The diagnosis was confirmed by clinical features and rectum and bone marrow biopsies. Ophthalmological and fluorescein angiographic findings were compared with postmortem histolo-gical ones.

The fundus finding was characterized by genera-lized yellowish green appearance and numerous pigment spots. White atrophic lesions, one-fourth to one-half in diameter, were clustered in the posterior fundus area in both eyes. Fluorescein angiography showed delayed dye-filling of the choriocapillaris in thes atrophic lesions.
