網膜色素変性症の視力予後に関する研究，特に初診時視力と長期視力予後との関係について

The prognosis of visual acuity in retinitis pigmentosa. A follow-up study

緒　言

　さきに著者^1）は網膜色素変性症の長期視力予後について検討し，若年発病群と高年発病群の間に視力低下傾向に差がないこと，視力の低下は0.6前後にいたるまでは緩徐であるが，0.5以下になると視力は比較的急速に低下することなどを報告した。

　今回は，初診時における視力別にその進行性（長期視力予後）について検討したのでここに報告する。初診時の視力の状態から，10年後，あるいはそれ以上の時期における視力をある程度まで推定できれば，患者に対する職業の選択や生活面での指導などに極めて有効であろうと考えたからである。

The prognosis of visual acuity in retinitis pig-mentosa was analysed based on a follow-up study of 55 cases (95 eyes) over a period of ten years and up. The 95 eyes were classified into 4 groups according to the visual acuity value at the first visit. The course of visual acuity changes during the follow-up period was shown in graphic forms. Each of the four groups showed definite characte-ristics in the tendency of diterioration vision. As a general rule, cases with the initial acuity of 0.5 or less tended to rapid loss of vision and to reach nearblindness level after ten years.
