Studies on Chondroitin Sulfate in Ophthalmology

緒言及び文献的考察

　Chondroitin硫酸（Ch-硫酸と略す）はMuco-polysaccharidの一種で，結合織に豊富な分布を見る。従つて眼科領域でもこの消長は大きな影響を及ぼすものと考えられ，一応臨床的な検索を試みた。

　Ch-硫酸の作用機転としては，この基本形であるN-Acetyl-galactosaminであるHexosamin及びD-Glucuronic-acid，硫酸供与体などの作用，又，26万という高分子そのものによる作用が考えられる。

Using Chondroitin sulfate subcutaneously, orally or subconjunctivaly, its results were as follows : ——

1. In the treatment of hypertension and arteriosclerosis for a long time, the ophthalmic views at a clinical physiologic point were remarkably improved.

2. Using subconjunctivaly, decline of ocular rigidity was found and its effect to pene-trate into intraocular tissues was expected.

3. On Some therapeutic administration to eye disease, its effect was estimated valuably at ceratitis superficialis, chorioretinitis centralis, Conjunctivitis allergica and so on.
