Prednisolone and oleandmycin in cphthalmology

　本日はPrednisoloneの眼科的応用，特に局所使用に就てお話しし，時間があれば，新らしい抗生物質Ole-andomycinの眼科的価値にふれたいと存じます。

　Prednisoloneは既に御承知のことと存じますが，1954年に新らたに合成されたコルチゾン系のホルモンで，その構造はHydrocortisoneと同じ分子式を持つていますが，唯一カ所炭素の二重結合が増えている点が構造的に異つております。その効果はHydrocortisonの約5倍で，副作用は少いと云われております。

According to the authors' experience in about 200 cases, prednisolone is slightly more effective than hydrocortisone. Topical application is effective in allergic conditions of the anterior segment of the eye. An 0.1% ointment is enough for topical application in most cases. Systemic administration is recommended for uveitis.

Oleandomycin has much the same effect as erythromycin in ophthalmology. It is effec-tive against trachoma.
