  • Look Inside

The authors statistically examined 100 cases of which cataracts were intracapsularly extracted at the Hiroshima University Hospital for about 4 years from 1952 to 1955. The results are as follows:

1) The age of the patients ranges from 26 to 86 years, but 80% of them are from 50 to to 70 years old. There is no noticeable sexual difference, because male patients are 43 (55.1%) and female patients are 35 (44.9%).

2) Treated eyes' cataracts are classified in such order as senile (73%), complicated (20%), traumatic (3%), diabetic (2%) and cogenital (2%).

3) Modus of intracapsular extraction is Elschnig's technique as a rule.
