  • Look Inside

We measured the peripheral refraction along the horizontal meridian up to 60 degrees from the optical axis in 6 eyes by means of perip-heral skiascopy. The double sliding-door was adopted as the neutralizing point.

Four types of peripheral refraction were ob-served, namely parabola-, x-, parallel- and as-ymmetry-types. Invariably, the astigmatism increased towards the periphery. The vertical refraction tended to hyperopism towards the periphery. The findings were symmetrical in both, nasal and temporal, hemispheres. The right and left eyes also showed symmetrical features.
