Ophthalmic Use of Vistamycin

緒言

　Vistamycin （VSM）は，1967年Streptomy—ces ribosidificusから分離，生産された新しいアミノ配糖体坑生剤である。明治製菓株式会社において研究開発されたもので，neamineの5位にD-riboseの結合した化学構造を有する。

　本剤はグラム陽性菌ならびに陰性菌に対して広い抗菌スペクトルを有し，筋注により高い血中濃度が得られ，生体内で代謝をうけずに尿中によく排泄される。

The bacteriological and clinical experiments for ophthalmic use of Vistamycin (VSM) were performed.

These results were summerized as follows.

1) Minimum growth inhibitory concentrations of VSM for various organisms concerning in ocular infection were 3.13~6.25 mcg/ml for Koch-Weeks bacillus, 0. 39~4 78 mcg/ml for Morax-Axenfeld diplobacillus, 3.13~25 mcg/ml for Pneumococcus, 0.39~0.78 mcg/ml for C. diphtheriae, 0.1 mcg/ml for Gonococcus, 12.5~50 mcg/ml for Streptococcus, 1.56~6.25 mcg/ml for Staphylococcus and>100 mcg/ml for Ps. acruginosa.

2) The distribution of the sensitivity for 100 strains of Staph.
