  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The pathological findings in a case of Wal-denström's macroglobulinemia were descrived, chiefly concerning the retinal vessels.

1) At the periphery of the retina, there were numerous microancurysms with degenerating capillaries. The capillary walls were thickened and the nuclei of the enclotheliums and pericytes were degenerated or absent. At the equator and the posterior, there were degenerated pericytes, so called "ghost cells" in appearance of bea-ding.

2) The vessels of the iris, choroid, and optic nerve were almost normal, apart from PAS-positive materials in their lumina. There were no evidence of venous thrombosis.
