網膜芽細胞腫（Retinoblastoma）保存療法の成功した1例

A Case of Bilateral Retinoblastoma Successfully Treated with Preservation of Useful Vision

I．緒言

　両眼の網膜芽細胞腫（Retinoblastoma；網膜膠腫，Glioma）の患者の1眼を摘出し，病理組織検査を行ない，転移の恐れのない場合，他眼を放射線療法などで保存的に治療することは，つとに1930年代から，StallardやReeseにより行なわれて，かなりの成功率を示している。かくて欧米では両眼の網膜芽細胞腫の1眼を保存療法することは，今や常識となつているが^1），わが国では，同様の試みが行なわれた例もあるとはいえ^2）3），まだ保存療法が広く行なわれているとはいいがたい。著者らはここに報告する症例を取り扱つた経験および外国文献に見られる保存療法の成功率から見て，わが国でも積極的に保存療法が実行されるべきだと考える。ここに症例を報告し，あわせて網膜芽細胞腫の保存療法の問題点を検討するゆえんである。

A case of bilateral retinoblastoma successful-ly treated with preservation of useful vision was reported. One eye occupied with huge tumor was enucleated and examined histologi-cally. The other eye having three small tumors was treated with radium-needle implantation, intramuscular injection of triethylene-thio-phos-phoramide and photocoagulation. Two out of three tumors were disappeared entirely and the last calcified.
