  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Four patients with acute optic neurits were treated by perorally administered Indomethacin ("Indacin", an antiinflammatory non-steroid pre-paration) . 50 to 75 mg of Indacin was given as the standard dosis.

Prompt beneficial effects resulted following ad-ministration of Indacin during initial stages of optic neuritis.

The papilloedematous condition disappeared and showed no relapse. For serious cases of optic neuritis, it is advocated that systemic steroid be administered initially to be followed by Indacin to prevent possible rebound phenomenon due to withdrawl of steroids.
