Low temperature of -80℃ was applied over the limbal area with a view to ascertain the effects upon the ocular tension and the aqueous dynamics in rabbit and human eyes.

1. Significant reduction in ocular tension re-sulted in rabbit eyes after application of gonio-cryocautery (Fig. 1). The hypotensive action was of the same magnitude as after cyclocryo-cautery (Fig. 2) and was greatest on the third day of the operation. Tonography and perfusion studies of the anterior chamber have consisten-tly shown that an increase in facility of outflow was the chief factor in bringing about the ob-served hypotensive effect (Fig. 3 & 5).
