An occurrence of macular degeneration as-sociated with congenital alopecia is described. Two members out of 3 siblings were affected.

The first patient, a male of 14 years of age, noted progressive visual failure since 8 years before. Bilateral macular degeneration with ir-regular pigment patches were detected ophthal-moscopically (Fig. 2). The hairgrowth was sparse, short and yellowish-brown in color (Fig. 6, left). The eyebrow and eyelashes sho-wed normal appearance.

The seccnd patient, a female of 7 years of age and sister to the first case, showed simi-lar but less severe fundus findings (Fig. 7).
