I．緒言

　近年，網膜色素変性症に有効な薬剤についての臨床報告が続出している。しかし，本症の性質上，現在のところ，その効果には自ら限界があり，最悪の結末，すなわち失明を出来る限り遅らせることに留まる。また，本症では，もしも逆方向の治療により，多少とも悪化した時には，それを回復させるのは容易ではない。

　したがつて，本症に対して新治療を施すに当つては，たとえ，その効果が理論的に期待出来る方法であつても，周到な動物実験を行ない，その効果を予測する必要がある。勿論，動物と人間とでは，また異なるところがあろうが，少なくとも動物実検で悪影響のないことを確かめるのみでも，そこに意義があると考えられる。

To estimate whether a medicament is to be used for retinitis pigmentosa of the human or not, the most reasonable approach is toinvestigate the effect of the medicament on the regeneration of visual purple employing the experimental animals. Therefore, in reg-ard to 14 kinds of medicaments, the majority of which have been reported as the drugs for the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa, the ef-fects on the regeneration were examined on the frogs according to Kimura's method.
