I．緒言

　網膜色素変性症はDonders （1857）によつてその病理組織像，Liebreich （1861）によつてその遺伝性が認められて以来，実に1世紀を超えてその成因は現在なお不明であり，本症の根本的な治療法は望むべくもなく，眼科領域における代表的な不治の疾患となつている。

　しかし，本症の進行を遅らせ，最悪の結末である失明を防ぐために，たとえ次善の方法でも，なんらかの療法を熱心に行なうことが大切である。

To decide whether a medicament is used for retinitis pigmentosa of the human or not, the most reasonable is to investigate the influence of the medicament on experimental retinitis pigmentosa of animal induced by NalO₃ and the regeneration of visual purple of animal. Our previous observations clearly demonstrate that vitamin B₁₂ (Cobamamide) prevent the evolu-tion of experimental retinitis pigmentosa of rats according to ERG and augment the regene-ration of visual purple of frogs according to Kimura's method.

Cobamamide has been administered to 20 cases of retinitis pigmentosa.
