点眼薬改良に関する研究—第3報DMSOの細菌学的考察

I．緒言

　我々は，前回新薬DMSOを紹介して以来DMSOの医療面への応用を試みてきたが，今回は，15％〜20％DMSOが長期点眼しても，ほとんど副作用のない事を認めたので，この濃度におけるDMSOの殺菌作用，発育阻止作用及び5％DM—SOの抗生物質耐性菌感受性回復作用を検討した。実験に用いた菌は，黄色ブドウ状球菌（以下ブドウ状球菌と略す）大腸菌，緑膿菌である。

In vitro studies with DMSO showed that there was no bacteriocidal effect of DMSOat the concentration of 20 percent, and that there was remarkable growth-inhibiting effect for E. coli, Staph. aur. and Ps. aeruginosa. Through treatment with DMSO at lower con-centrations some bacterial strains showed enh-ancement of sensitivity against antibiotics. Some resistant strains resumed sensitivity against antibiotics through this procedure.This phenomenon was particularly apparent in Ps. aeruginosa, some resistant strains of which regained sensitivity against Colistin.
