I．はじめに

　視神経乳頭径は，眼底の長さに関する物差しとして使われる事が多く，眼科領域に於ける重要な解剖学的数値の一つである。

　成書に記載してある数値を見ると，本邦で日本人の正常値として採用されて居るのは，石井氏^1）の屍体眼による計側値である。

A calculational method was presented to determine true dimensions of optic disc from magnification of fundus-photograph, being computed from values obtained by photopha-cometry, ultra-sonic echogram and optical components of fundus camera.

Optic disc showed marked individual varia-tion in it's dimensions. Mean horizontal dia-meter were 1.741mm, (σ0.199mm) in male and 1.760mm (σ0.152mm) in female.

The use of the disc-diameter as a scale involves larger errors than the use the ma-gnification itself. Heritability of the size of optic disc was 0.92.
