Nystatin-Chloramphenicol ointment in the treatment of Mycotic blepharoconjunctivitis

　抗生物質の出現以来，細菌性の眼瞼，結膜及び角膜の疾患は治療も容易となり，患者も激減して来ている。これと逆に真菌性の疾患は増加の傾向があり，問題となつている。中でも重篤な症状を呈する角膜真菌症が注目を浴びていることは，内外を問わず，近年その報告例が増していることからも窺える。しかしこの他に症状が軽いため見逃され易い眼瞼，結膜の真菌症もかなり多数ある。

　なぜに真菌症が増えたかという原因に，抗生物質の濫用による菌交代現象が起つたためと考える者もある。しかしこの点に関してはまだ疑問の余地がある。Cortisone系統の薬の使用が真菌の発育を促進し，生体の真菌に対する感受性を高めるということは，つとに三井・花房によつて報告されている。また氏等によると結膜嚢内からは18％の頻度で真菌が検出されるという。これらの真菌が外傷などの誘因で組織内に侵入し，病原性を現わし角膜真菌症を起すことが考えられる。従つて眼瞼及び結膜嚢内の真菌は軽視出来ない問題である。

The authors evaluated a combined use of antifungal and antibacterial agents in the tr-eatment of external ocular infection. In this study a combination of nystatin with chlora-mphenicol was tried.

Twenty nine cases of blepharitis and con-junctivitis probably due to fungus infection were selected as the subject. They showed positive fungus spores in the smear. Many of them showed, in addition positive bacterio-logy at the same time and, therefore, a bacte-rial origin was not completely excluded.
