  • Abstract

Among 591 normal cases, 67 weae unable to close the right eye, 25 the left eye, and 24 the right and left eye without accompanied by a closure of the second eye. The relation between the inability and the principal eye, handedness and vision was followed and the following hypothesis was proposed by the authors. They considered the etiology to be an enormously developed non-cross fibres in the path of facial nerve in the course from the cortical to the subcortical centre. In case of inability to close the right eye by itself, for exmple (fig. 1, b), there might be an enormous development of noncross fibres of the facial nerve in the opposite side.
