Abstract. Purpose:To report clinical course after cataract surgery in seven eyes with decreased corneal endothelial cell density long after laser iridotomy for glaucoma. Cases:This study was made on 7 eyes of 5 patients that received cataract surgery. All the eyes had had laser iridotomy for glaucoma 6 to 7 years previously. Endothelial cell population ranged from 614 to 1,048 cells/mm2 over the whole cornea in 5 eyes. It ranged from 665 to 2,103 cells/mm2 in the lower corneal sector in 2 eyes. Results:After the cataract surgery, endothelial cell population ranged from 524 to 984 cells/mm2 in the 5 eyes. It ranged from 811 to 2,020 cells/mm2 in the other 2 eyes. The shapes and sizes of endothelial cells remained almost unchanged after cataract surgery. Conclusion:Decrease in corneal endothelial cell population seemed to be retarded after cataract surgery.
