Abstract. Purpose:To present a review of vernal keratoconjunctivitis in the past 5 years. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 64 cases of vernal keratoconjunctivitis seen by us during 5 years through 2012. The series comprised 53 males and 11 females. The age ranged from 3 to 34 years, average 12 years. This study was based on the clinical record. Results:The age at the initial visit was most frequent from 5 to 9 years. Eyelid type was the most frequent. The incidence showed a peak from May to September. Atopic dermatitis was present in 45 cases(70%). There was a tendency for the number of patients and the severity to decrease during the 5-year period. Female patients showed a tendency to increase. Almost all the cases had been treated by topical immunosuppressive drugs. Corticosteroid eyedrops showed a tendency to decrease. Conclusion:There was a tendency for the number of patients with vernal keratoconjunctivitis to decrease and its severity to decrease in the past 5 years. The findings seemed to suggest changes in its pathogenesis.
