Abstract. Background:Extension of eyelashes is performed by pasting artificical fibers to the eyelashes to improve cosmetic appearance. Purpose:To report a case of endophthalmitis after receiving extension of eyelashes. Case:A 44-year-old woman presented with pain and hyperemia in the right eye since 3 days before. She had received extension of eyelashes 4 days before. She had been diagnosed with glaucoma 20 years before and been treated with trabeculectomy in both eyes. She had history of infection of filtration bleb in both eyes. Findings:The right eye showed signs of anterior uveitis with infiltration of the bleb and leakage of aqueous. The pasted artificial eyelashes touched the ocular surface. The blebitis turned into endophthalmitis 11 days later necessitating vitreous surgery. The right visual acuity has been stable at 1.2 for 21 months until present. Conclusion:Extension of eyelashes may induce in a case with past history of blebitis.
