Abstract. Purpose:To report drug sensitivity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from corneal ulcer in contact lens wearers. Cases and Method:We reviewed 94 eyes of 89 cases who were treated for corneal ulcer secondary to contact lens wear in the past 10 years. P. aeruginosa was isolated in 53 eyes of 49 cases and was evaluated regarding sensitivity to levofloxacin, gentamycin and tobramycin. The 49 cases were aged from 15 to 69 years, average 32 years. Results:The isolated Pseudomonas was insensitive to levofloxacin in 4 cases(8%)and was resistant in 6 cases(12%). It was insensitive to gentamycin in 2 cases(4%)and was resistant in 15 cases(30%). It was resistant to tobramycin in 10 cases(20%). Conclusion:In corneal ulcer due to P. aeruginosa in contact lens wearers, therapeutic strastegy ought to be revised when the causative organism is found to be resistant to quinolone or aminoglycosides.
