Abstract. Purpose:To report fundus autofluorescence in eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 12 eyes of 12 cases during the initial episode of the disease. The series comprised 9 males and 3 females. The age ranged from 33 to 67 years, average 51 years. Fundus autofluorescence was recorded with a fundus camera(CX-1TM, Canon). Findings:All the eyes showed hypofluorescence in the site of fluorescein dye leakage. Nine eyes showed hyperfluorescence adjunct to the site. In 7 eyes with single site of dye leakage, area of hypoautofluorescence numbered one in 4 eyes and multiple in 3. Multiple areas of hypofluorescence were present in 2 eyes with 2 sites of dye leakage. Those of hypofluorescence numbered 3 or more in 3 eyes with more than 3 sites of dye leakage. In 2 eyes during recurrence of the disease, dye leakage was located at the previous area of hypofluorescnce not treated by photocoagulation. Conclusion:In central serous chorioretinopathy, sites of dye leakage may show hypoautofluorescence with hyperautofluorescence in the neighboring area. Number of hypoautofluorescence may be equal to or more to that of dye leakage. During recurrence of the disease, dye leakage may develop at the site of hypoautofluorescence during the previous attack.
