Abstract. Purpose:To analyze cases of perforating ocular injury with fair visual outcome. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 22 eyes of 22 cases who were treated by for perforating ocular injury in the past 5 years. The series comprised 18 males and 4 females. The age ranged from 3 to 66 years,average 35 years. Cases were divided into 2 groups consisting of 11 eyes each. One group had final visual acuity of 1.0 or better. The other had visual acuity of less than 1.0. Cases were evaluated regarding initial visual acuity,age,circumstances during injury,and causative object. Results:Final visual acuity was better when injured by a not ragged object including a nail(p<0.05). Conclusion:Visual outcome is better when injured by a not irregularly shaped object like a nail.
