Abstract. Purpose:To report changes of length of the ocular axis after trabeculectomy with or without simultaneous cataract surgery. Cases and Method:This study was made on 77 eyes of 67 cases who received trabeculectomy in the past 12 months. The age averaged 61.7±10.8 years. Simultaneous cataract surgery was performed in 47 eyes. Length of ocular axis was measured using IOLMaster. SRK-T formula was used in predicting the power of intraocular lens. Refraction was measured by an automated refractometer. Results:Intraocular pressure(IOP)averaged 19.3±5.4 mmHg before and 11.0±4.2 mmHg after surgery. Axial length after an average of 140 days significantly decreased after surgery(p<0.0001). Changes in axial length was significantly correlated with change in IOP(p<0.0001)and with age(p=0.0003). Actual refraction showed myopic shift after simultaneous surgery. Conclusion:Myopic shift may result after simultaneous trabeculectomy and cataract surgery.
