Abstract. Purpose:To compare the visual outcome of branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO)with macular edema following vitreous surgery or intravitreal bevacizumab. Cases and Method:This study was made on 27 eyes of 27 patients of BRVO with macular edema seen during the past 53 months. Vitreous surgery was performed on 12 eyes during the initial 33 months. Bevacizumab was intravitreally injected in 15 eyes during the latter period. Results:In vitreous surgery group, visual acuity remained the same as that before surgery after one month, improved after 3 months to remain up to 12 months. In bevacizumab group, visual acuity improved after one month and showed no difference after 3 months when compared with the value before treatment. Conclusion:Visual acuity in eyes with BRVO with macular edema improved gradually until 12 months following vitreous surgery. It improved one month following intravitreal bevacizumab and returned to the pretreatment level after 3 months.
