Abstract. Purpose:To report the short-term outcome of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion. Cases and Method:This study was made on 8 eyes of branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO)and 7 eyes of central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO). Each eye received intravitreal injection of 1.25mg of bevacizumab. Macular edema was evaluated using an optical coherence tomography(OCT)before and one month after treatment. Results:Macular edema regressed in 6 out of 8 eyes(75%)with BRVO and in 4 out of 7 eyes(57%)with CRVO. There has been no side effect of treatment throughout. Conclusion:Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab is effective for macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion on short-term basis.
