Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO). Cases and Method:This prospective study was made on 29 eyes of 29 patients with BRVO. The age averaged 68 years. Interval between onset and treatment averaged 2.9±3.3 months. Each patient received intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg bevacizumab. Cases with poor response received repeat injection after one month or longer. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR. Results:Ten cases needed one injection only with visual acuity improving from 0.23 to 0.02. Nineteen cases needed two to six treatments with averaged visual acuity improving from 0.40 to 0.11. Maximum visual acuity was attained after one injection in 18 out of 29 cases,2 injections in 3 out of 19 cases,3 injections in 5 out of 9 cases, and more than 4 injections in 3 out of 5 cases. Conclusion:One single injection of bevacizumab may be effective for BRVO with macular edema. More than 3 injection may be needed for recalcitrant or recurrent cases.
