Abstract. Purpose:To compare the outcome of penetrating and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty for keratoconus. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 27 eyes of 27 cases who received keratoplasty for keratoconus in the past 3 years. Penetrating keratoplasty was performed in 16 eyes and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty in 11 eyes. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR. Cases were followed up for 6 months or longer. Results:Final best-corrected visual acuity was significantly better in eyes that received penetrating keratoplasty(p<0.05). Among topographic parameters, surface regularity index(SRI)alone was significantly higher in eyes that received penetrating keratoplasty. There was no difference regarding other indices between the two groups. Conclusion:Final best-corrected visual acuity was better after penetrating keratoplasty than deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty. Otherwise, there was no difference between the two methods.
