Abstract. Purpose:To report MALT-type conjunctival malignant lymphoma in a relatively young adult. Case:A 28-year-old female presented with subconjunctival tumor in both eyes since 3 months before. She had been receiving topical gatifloxacin for dacryosystitis since 2 years before. Findings:Subconjunctival salmon-pink tumor was present in the upper and lower sector of the right eye and in the nasal sector of the left eye. Biopsied specimens from both eyes were identified as B-cell type MALT lymphoma by histopathology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and molecular gene analysis. The tumor was localized in the subconjunctival space and was judged to be stage IA. There has been no recurrence for 12 months until present. Conclusion:MALT lymphoma in the conjunctiva is claimed to mainly involve persons over 50 years of age. This case illustrates that it may develop in a person under 30 years of age and that it may respond to external radiation.
