Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of foreign body granuloma presenting as a tumor in the lower eyelid presumably due to injury 12 years ago. Case:A 33-year-old male presented with a tumor in the right lower eyelid that started to enlarge since 2 months before. Findings:The eyelid tumor appeared as an atheroma by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). The size of tumor was 2 cm by 1 cm when resected. It was diagnosed with foreign body granuloma by histopathology. No foreign body giant cells were present. Afterwards, the patient revealed a history of traumatic rupture of his lower eyelid 12 years before. Conclusion:Nonbiological foreign body, may cause irritation after prolonged presence in the tissue, and may result in atypical foreign body granuloma surrounded by stratified inflammatory reaction without signs of phagocytosis by giant cells. The eyelid tumor in the present case may have been due to foreign body at the time of injury 12 years before.
