Abstract. Purpose:To evaluate the outcome of LASIK using either of two microkeratomes. Cases and Methods:This retrospective study made on 187 eyes that received LASIK during the past 22 months. Corneal flap was made by M2 Single Use 90®(M2)in 95 eyes and by One Use-Plus SBK®(SBK)in 92 eyes. The two groups were evaluated regarding postoperative visual acuity, thickness of corneal flap and residual stromal bed,and higher-order aberrations. Results:The thickness of corneal flap averaged 110±11μm in SBK group and 128±13μm in M2 group. The difference was significant. There was no difference in thickness of residual stromal bed or in higher-order aberrations. Conclusion:Thinner corneal flap was produced using SBK than M2 as microkeratome for LASIK.
