Abstract. Purpose:To report the difference between unilateral and bilateral cases of acute angle-closure with or without glaucoma. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 75 eyes of 63 cases of acute angle-closure with or without glaucoma seen during the past 25 years. The series comprised 16 males and 59 females. The age ranged from 44 to 85 years, average 67 years. Twelve cases were bilaterally and 51 cases were unilaterally affected. Results:Five males(42%)were bilaterally and 6 males(12%)were unilaterally affected, suggesting no difference in gender in bilateral cases and preponderance of females in unilateral cases. There was no difference between unilateral and bilateral cases regarding age, refraction, axial length, depth of anterior chamber,or lens thickness. Conclusion:There is no difference in anatomy of the eye between unilateral and bilateral cases of acute angle-closure with or without glaucoma. Unilaterally affected males have a higher risk of acute attack in the fellow eye.
