Abstract. Purpose:To report the effect and safety of two types of plasma-coated silicone hydrogel contact lens for various ocular surface disorders. Cases and Method:This prospective study was made on 51 eyes of 40 patients that had either of 17 ocular surface diseases or disorders. They were treated by wearing contact lens A(28 eyes)or B(23 eyes)for one month. Therapeutic effect was evaluated by slit-lamp microscopic observation, subjective feeling of pain, and patient's satisfaction. Results:Alleviation of pain was attained in 81% of patients wearing contact lens A and in 70% of patients wearing B. Score of subjective satisfaction averaged 7.7 for A and 8.2 for B. The disease improved or recovered in 79% and 91% respectively. There was no ocular complication throughout. Conclusion:The two types of silicone hydrogel contact lens were effective and safe for ocular surface diseases in the present study.
